Day 4: 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Characters Introduced:

  • Jason Girard (T.J. Thyne): Hippie camper who will go on to be Dr. Hodgins on Bones.
  • Kelly Girard (Claudette Mink): Hippie camper who will go on to nothing else that I recognize.
  • Walt Cummings (John Allen Nelson): Logan’s chief of staff and the classic 24 sketchy government man.

Returning Characters:

  • Mike Novick (Last episode of season 2) First significant character to return after a whole season off

Key Moments:

  • CTU listens in as the Air Force One pilot attempts to land the damaged plane. Jack runs into CTU as the plane crash lands. He uses a secret service channel to find if there are any agents alive. One reports that there are survivors of the crash.
  • Look who is an advisor to Logan, Mike Novick. That makes him both a Democrat and a Republican. He tells Logan that the plane is down and he should set up his swearing in as President to assure the public. Logan thinks that is premature.
  • Audrey tells Jack that the nuclear football is missing from Air Force One. Heller wants Jack to locate it.
  • Jason and Kelly are out camping when they spot some fires. They walk up and find wreckage of Air Force One.
  • Chloe links CTU to the emergency rescue footage of Air Force One. Keeler’s son is dead but Keeler himself is alive but in critical condition. Bill calls Logan with the news and Logan reacts with his usual stuttering. Mike takes control of the situation.
  • The campers find the football and call for help.
  • Tony transfers their call to Jack who is already in the air. He tells them that he is 20 minutes away. When Jason spots headlights, Jack has him destroy the transponder on the case. They run away from the headlights.
  • Jack sends them to an abandoned power station to hide.
  • Marwan was tracking their cell signal and figures out where they are heading.
  • They reach the station and break in. Marwan is right behind them so Jason calls Jack for help. Jack tells them to go to the lowest level and wait.
  • Marwan enters the building and one of his men spots the campers. They run away from the gunfire. Marwan hears Jack’s chopper land.
  • Jack is pinned down by one of Marwan’s men in an elevated position.
  • Jack gives Jason the code to open the case. He has them separate the contents and split up.
  • Jack MacGyver’s his way out of trouble. He puts some bullets in a can and lights a fire. When they start going off he circles around the thug and shoots him through the floor.
  • Jason is caught and when Marwan finds the contents missing he tortures him. He shoots him multiple times before Kelly begs him to stop. She gives him the rest of the football. Jack arrives to kill the thugs but Marwan escapes.
  • Jack spots 2 jeeps speeding off and sends the CTU chopper after the one with the football. The jeep is taken out. Jack kills the driver and finds the football. He finds that a section of the football is missing.
  • Walt tells Logan that he has the votes and it is time to be sworn in.
  • The missing section of the football contains locations of nuclear warheads within the United States.
  • Jack calls Mike and Mike tells Logan while he is being introduced as President.

Ridiculousness:

  • So you know how a President of the United States was shot out of the sky on 24? Well, we will never find out if he survives or dies from his injuries. It’s not like the President is an important position or anything of the sort.

Running Totals:

Jack’s body count: 4 (97)

  • Jack kills all of the thugs not named Marwan.

Torture doesn’t mean you can’t be creative: 1 (26)

  • Marwan shoots Jason in the shoulder and the leg.
