• Erika brings Larry a report from the Attorney General that says Tanner is filing a complaint against the FBI.
• Matobo tells his wife that Dubaku wants to know his allies. Alama realizes that she will be used as leverage to get him to talk. Emerson gets on the intercom and says let him in or Eto’o dies. Eto’o says he is willing to die for Sangala. Matobo praises him for his sacrifice but before Emerson can pull the trigger Eto’o’s phone rings. Emerson realizes the FBI are coming. Litkav says they should run but Jack has a plan. He says they can gas the Matobos out. Litvak argues but Jack says they have 15 minutes. Emerson tells him to do it and Jack runs off to the kitchen to find some chemicals. Tony joins him and says this could kill the Matobos but Jack says it’s their only way to Dubaku.
• Jack puts a bowl of liquid in the vent above the safe room and starts spraying it with something. A chemical reaction takes place and gas starts flowing through the ducts. Emerson tells Matobo what is going on and they start coughing.
• Renee is outside the Matobo house.
• The Matobos are on the ground dying but Alama chickens out and opens the door. They are grabbed and taken out of the house. Renee spots them getting tossed into the back of a truck. She calls Larry but Litvak gets the drop on her. We almost get saved when Emerson puts his gun to her head but Jack stops him and says they need to find out what Tanner told the FBI. Renee gives Jack shit the whole time but he tosses her in back with the Matobos. Emerson calls Nichols with the update.
• It looks like Henry sat on a bench for 45 minutes thinking about the data chip Samantha gave him. Gedge tells him that he has found someone that can decrypt the data. Henry doesn’t want to take this to the authorities until they know whom they can trust.
• Taylor is going forward with the attack on Sangala regardless of Dubaku’s threats. Stevens walks in and says that Matobo has been kidnapped.
• Janis updates Larry that Renee has been taken.
• Renee continues to give Jack shit while they are on the road. Nichols calls Emerson and tells him that they are clean and to kill Renee. She gets to hear as Emerson, Jack, and Tony talk about killing her.
• Henry and Gedge arrive at an apartment. Henry starts feeling weird at the same time he realizes that they are in Samantha’s apartment. He turns and sees Gedge putting on surgical gloves. Maybe that’s not a bad sign? Gedge tells Henry that he is going to kill him and Samantha and make it look like Henry killed Samantha and then committed suicide. He calls Vossler who is watching Samantha. Vossler walks up to Samantha, who still thinks he is Secret Service, and tells her that he needs to put her in protective custody.
• Janis and Sean intercepted the phone call where Nichols tells Emerson to kill Renee. Larry hears it and is very annoyed.
• The van pulls off into the standard abandoned construction site. Emerson gives the killing of Renee job to Jack. Jack yanks her out of the truck and manhandles her in front of Emerson. I may despise Renee but this scene is pure 24 gold. She gives him shit the entire walk to the shallow grave. Renee says Jack will have to look her in the eye. Jack forcibly turns her around and whispers to trust him and she will live. He puts her on her knees and fires a bullet right off the side of her neck. The force from such a close gunshot knocks her down like he killed her. She looks at him with these horrified eyes as he tosses a tarp over her and walks back to Emerson. He hands him the gun and gets ready to leave but Emerson tells him to bury her. Tony helps and sees that Renee is very much alive as they dump dirt on her. Silent clock?

Ridiculousness:

• I love the concept of the silent clock but the end of this hour in no way deserved it. This is not just my hatred for Renee taking over. She is a new character that has only been around for 5 hours and isn’t even dead. You need to earn the silent clock … damnit!
