Day 6: 5:00 AM - 6:00 AM

Characters Introduced:

End game III

Returning Characters:

End game IV

Key Moments:

  • Josh arrives at the platform and Cheng informs Phillip that a submarine will pick them up in 30 minutes.
  • Nadia and Morris locate the platform.
  • Daniels meets with a version of the roundtable of blowing shit up. Lennox informs him of the platform and Ethan recommends an airstrike that will obliterate the platform. Lennox, at least, brings up Josh but Daniels finally has the chance to do some bombing.
  • Nadia calls Jack to tell him about the airstrike. She wants Jack and Bill back at CTU; Jack says fine and hangs up. Jack keeps looking at a helicopter and when he talks with Bill tells him what he plans to do. Bill tells Jack he will fly the chopper and they gear up. The pilot gets out with no resistance. Jack and Bill fly off.
  • The bombers will arrive in 20 minutes.
  • Daniels talks with Suvarov. He tells him about the oil platform and their air strike. Suvarov confirms that there is a Chinese sub in the area. Daniels gives Suvarov access to their feed. If the bombing succeeds, there will be no war.
  • Morris tells Nadia that Jack and Bill are flying towards the platform. Bill talks with Nadia and convinces her to help. Morris gives Jack the information he needs to assault the platform. They are going to engage from the air!
  • Cheng tells Phillip he will deal with the incoming chopper and gives Phillip the circuit.
  • Bill swoops the helicopter to the top level and Jack sweeps the deck with his assault rifle. Bill lands and Jack hops out and shoots a bunch of exploding barrels. The last explosion knocks down Cheng. Jack goes after Josh, while Bill drag Cheng back to the chopper and tells Jack he has 10 minutes.
  • Phillip is dragging Josh through the platform.
  • Jack is rolling through everyone he finds on the platform.
  • Josh hits Phillip over the head with a wrench and takes his gun. When Phillip berates him, Josh shoots him in the shoulder. Jack arrives to stop him from killing his grandfather. He hugs Josh and sends him to the chopper. Jack tells Phillip to get up but Phillip refuses. Jack tells him he is getting off easy. Jack is pained but leaves his father behind.
  • Josh reaches the chopper and Bill rolls out the ladder before taking off.
  • Daniels gives the okay to engage the platform.
  • Jack runs off the platform and leaps for the ladder as the oil platform blows up spectacularly behind him.
  • Suvarov confirms that he is calling back his troops. He and Daniels commiserate on their days.
  • As the helicopter nears the shore, Jack lets go of the ladder and dives into the ocean. By the time Bill circles back, Jack is ashore but Bill recognizes that Jack has business to attend to.
  • Lennox reiterates his wish for Daniels to be lenient with Karen and Bill. Daniels agrees and Lennox gives him the recording from earlier in the day.
  • Chloe finally tells Morris that she is pregnant.
  • Lennox tells Karen that she and Bill are both free.
  • Bill brings Josh and Cheng into CTU. Cheng does have a great line when he tells Bill that; “my people will not abandon me like your people abandoned Jack Bauer”. Damn right. Bill tells Nadia that Jack is gone and should not be pursued.
  • Heller is talking to someone about Audrey when he hears a noise. Jack walks into the room soaking wet. I can’t do justice to this scene. This is the culmination of everything that has happened to Jack since Teri died. He tells Heller that his country asks and asks of Jack and he has given them everything but has never been given anything in return. And now the man he thought of as a father called him cursed and forbade him from seeing the woman he loves. Heller knows he is in the wrong but tells Jack that he can never have his life back and can’t give Audrey the life she deserves. Jack sees Audrey but she is damn near comatose. He sees the futility of his position. He apologizes for not being able to protect her and take her with him. He is too far gone to even cry. She never even moves. He walks right past Heller and heads to a backyard cliff and the sunrise. He has a gun in his hand and cliff before him as the hour ends. Silent clock because we are supposed to believe that Jack may have killed himself.

Ridiculousness:

Good climatic hour

Running Totals:

Jack’s body count: 12 (188)

  • I had to estimate how many people he killed with the exploding barrels.
