Characters Introduced:
- Ali (Ethan Rains): Samir’s lead man for the first couple of hours before he dies, of course, and is replaced.
- Marcos Al-Zacar (Rami Malek): A young American turned for Samir’s cause.

Key Moments:
- Josef parks in some alley and gets a call from his father. Jack identifies himself and offers him the same deal that Sergei asked for. Sergei pleads with his son and Josef seems to agree. But before he can get back into the van, Samir hits him with a sniper bullet. Farhad and Samir walk up to the van and Jack can hear them through Josef’s cell. Samir says they need to change the plan.
- Chloe calls Jack to get the update and also to see how he is doing. Afterwards she connects him to Renee and he tries to get through to her once again.
- Hastings and Rob talk about the recent events. Weiss is a nice guy and tells Hastings to find a fall guy and recommends Renee.
- Arlo has tracked the missing Dana for Cole.
- Hastings greets a lawyer from the Justice Department that Rob sent to CTU. He is unkind to her but she is excited to crush Renee’s life.
- Hastings kicks Chloe out of the room and leaves Renee alone with the lawyer. He blows off any of Chloe’s questions.
- Samir and Farhad talk about moving the rods now that everyone knows that they have them. Samir gets annoyed at Farhad’s questions and tells him that they are going to use the rods against the US. This is not what Farhad wants but Samir is very persuasive.
- Jack arrives back at CTU and Chloe tells him what is happening with Renee. Jack recognizes what is going on and gets to work. He knocks out the guard watching the door, enters the rooms, and starts choking the lawyer against the wall. Jack tries to walk Renee out but gets a stun gun for his troubles.
- Farhad and Samir talk about getting a detonator for the rods. Farhad claims to know a professor that he can lean on to help them. He leaves to make a call but instead attacks Ali with a wrench and runs off. Marcos sounds the alarm.
- Jack is lead to Hastings’ office but doesn’t back down and calls him out on what is being done to Renee. Hastings says this came from the White House. Chloe interrupts to say that Farhad Hassan is calling. He tells CTU that he has been turned on and they are planning to attack NYC. Farhad gives his location and Hastings says they will come and get him. Since Cole is off dealing with the shit Dana storyline, Hastings has to figure out whom to send. He does kick Jack out of CTU first.
- Cole has joined Dana in the storyline that will not die.
- Samir calls Ali and tells him to continue to search for Farhad while he moves the rods to a safer place.
- Arlo and Chloe tell Hastings how difficult the search for Farhad will be but Hastings gives the job to Agent Owen. Jack scoffs as he leaves the building and Hastings chases him down in the batcave entrance. Jack offers to take the mission if the charges are dropped against Renee. He throws in a pep talk on being the head of CTU and the power to say no. Hastings wants Jack in for good until the job is done so Jack moves the shoulder strap to the other side to show his seriousness.
- Yup the last 5 minutes of the hour is Cole killing a dude for Dana.
Ridiculousness:
- Did Jack really have a plan to free Renee? He thought knocking out one guard would have gotten the job done? I know Kiefer has a commanding voice but its not good enough to talk down every since person in CTU!
