Day 1: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Characters Introduced:

  • Alexis Drazen (Misha Collins): Andre’s brother and one of the 3 assassins that arrive at the end of the hour. He is the very definition of Eurotrash.

Key Moments:

  • Jack and Rick make it to the water tower, but Teri and Kim get lost along the way. So Jack leaves Rick and goes back to look for his family.
  • The Bauer women hide out in an abandoned building. A thug is about to get the jump on them, but Jack saves the day by putting many bullets in him.
  • Jamey’s mother is questioned about the $300,000 that has been deposited in her bank account. Tony totally rips apart a grieving mother. You da man Tony!
  • Jack goes on foot to challenge Gaines’s sniper position. After distracting him with a mirror and some sunlight, Jack hits him with some running blind-fire.
  • Carl planted evidence at the fire that will implicate Keith; David has to let Carl go.
  • While Jack tracks Gaines through his blood trail, they have a conversation over walkie-talkies. Gaines will not give up who hired him. He tries to catch Jack in a trap but it doesn't work. Jack comes up behind Gaines and demands he surrender. Gaines’ refuses and Jack kills him with a slick dive to the ground and shooting him along the way.
  • Rick runs away before CTU arrives.
  • Jamey’s money leads to 3 new assassins.

Ridiculousness:

  • Jack saves his wife and daughter and, of course, Kim’s first words are “where is Rick?” Argh! Then when they are in sight of the water tower, she runs from her parents because she has to find Rick. That bastard Gaines misses her with his sniper fire causing us years of pain.
  • When Rick runs away, he gets on a bus. The only problem is that he is covered in blood and his arm is just hanging from the bullet wound. Times were simpler back then and no one questioned him about it.

Running Totals:

Battlefield Medic: 1 (2)

  • Jack ties off Rick’s bullet wound with a bandana. A bandana? Seriously, why does Rick have a bandana?

Jack’s Body Count: 2 (7.5)

  • Jack kills the thug who was about to shoot his family.
  • Jack kills Gaines.

Human Beings Still Eat?: 1

  • Nina and Tony share a snack while tracing Jamey’s money. They even talk with their mouth’s full.

Kim Does Something Stupid: 1 (7)

  • All her actions this hour.

  1. If the show ended after 13 weeks, Jack's plot resolves fine, but Palmer's plot would've resolved with..."fixers are evil people"?

  2. I'm not really sure what their plan for the Palmer arc was in the first 13 hours. The Sherry heel turn is all in the second half so I assume they would have brought David and Keith together as a happy family to conclude that story? But how?
