Day 6: 2:00 AM - 3:00 AM

Characters Introduced:

• Zhou (Ian Anthony Dale): The leader of Cheng’s assault team. He will die ugly.

Key Moments:

• Nadia comes into holding to tell him that Heller took Audrey away from Jack forever. Jack pleads to take Cheng down since he gave his word but Nadia doesn’t understand the importance of Jack’s word and leaves him in holding.
• In a clearly ominous line, Doyle tells Nadia that he is taking every available agent to take down Cheng.
• Cheng’s men are gearing up at the same time.
• Lisa calls Bishop to get a reinvite back to his place.
• Chloe brings Marilyn in to holding so she can talk to Jack. She tries to talk to him about Audrey but Jack is just seething. Marilyn asks Jack to be apart of Josh’s life.
• We get dueling assaults as Doyle takes his men into the building where they believe Cheng is located, while Zhou leads an assault team through the sewers and eventually to CTU.
• Lennox brings Lisa to Bishop’s place and sends her in. He doesn’t give a shit about her worries.
• Cheng accesses and shuts down CTU’s systems.
• Zhou’s team blows through the sewers and into CTU.
• CTU finally realizes that there is a problem and Nadia calls a code red. Zhou’s team enters with a hail of gunfire. Jack pleads with the guard to let him out and the poor guy is shot right after opening the door for Jack. Jack gets into motion. Zhou rounds up all of CTU in the communications area. Jack is mowing through Chinese in the hallways. Zhou asks who is in command and Milo stands up to cover for Nadia. Zhou shoots him in the head. Bye Milo, you never should have come back.
• When Josh and Marilyn are about to be grabbed, Jack arrives to take out the Chinese hassling them. Marilyn says that they wanted Josh. Jack leads them to one of the CTU dark and dank rooms with a ventilation fan. He stops the fan and sends Josh in. Before Jack and Marilyn can follow they are caught. When Doyle keeps trying to call in, Zhou figures out that Nadia is in charge and tells her to get rid of Doyle. Doyle can hear the weirdness. Jack asks Zhou why he wants Josh but gets a rifle butt as an answer. Zhou gets on the PA and tells Josh that he will kill his mother if he doesn’t show himself in 10 seconds. Josh comes out of the vents.
• Cheng calls Phillip to say that he has Josh. They talk about exchanging Josh for the repaired circuit.

Ridiculousness:

• Why is Lennox running an undercover field op? He is the White House Chief of Staff! Does he have some sort of background that explains why he can do this?

• Mark Bishop (Michael Shanks): Hell yeah for Michael Shanks showing up. He also goes the classic spy route of sleeping with people to gain information.

Key Moments:

• Doyle tries to talk to Audrey but she just repeats the phrases she said to Jack a couple of hours ago.
• Nadia denies Morris’ transfer request. Doyle calls and says that Audrey is too messed up to communicate and Jack’s plan would have worked if he hadn’t interfered. Nadia blames Jack because she has nothing else to go with.
• Doyle doesn’t allow Jack to speak to Audrey before she is put in a helicopter.
• Daniels is not confident in their chances of catching Cheng. Lennox interrupts to say that Suvarov wants a meeting with Daniels.
• Lisa has left the White House during a crisis to have sex with some dude, Mark Bishop. She is a woman and that is how 24 views women.
• Hey look it’s the first use of the Cisco teleconference technology that will pop up over and over again through the final seasons. Suvarov already knows about the circuit. Daniels doesn’t back down because they were Russian nukes on American soil in the first place. Lennox says that they only way Suvarov can know this fast is because of a leak.
• Cheng is told that the circuit has been damaged.
• Bishop steals Lisa’s PDA information when she takes a shower. He calls his contact.
• Chloe confronts Morris and he tells her that she crossed a line. How can someone have thin skin after years of being around Chloe? Chloe cries into the wall.
• Nadia greets some psych doctors into CTU. They get to work on Audrey.
• While Doyle deposits Jack into holding, Jack pleads for Doyle to look out for Audrey’s safety.
• The doctor tells Nadia and Doyle that they have to use some extreme treatment to get Audrey to talk. Doyle pushes for Jack to talk to her but the doctor says it is his decision not Nadia’s. Doyle yells at Nadia for getting walked all over and letting this happen.
• Lennox meets with Daniels and tells him that Lisa has been in contact with a suspected Russian agent named Mark Bishop. Daniels doesn’t understand so Lennox has to explain the birds and the bees to him. Daniels says they have a bigger problem since he is also sleeping with Lisa.
• Doyle updates Jack on Audrey’s future then uncuffs him and tells him to make it look good. Jack jumps up and puts the choke on him … YES! He gets out of holding takes out the guard and grabs his gun. He gets into medical and knocks out one of the doctors and tosses the other one to the floor. The doctor pulls the alarm as Jack takes Audrey out of medical. Even Milo gives Nadia shit for not letting Jack talk to Audrey in the first place.
• Jack brings Audrey into one of the CTU dark dungeon rooms and rips the access pad off the wall. He starts talking to Audrey. Nadia is outside the door and can’t get in. Audrey finally looks at Jack with something like recognition. Jack keeps talking and she squeezes his hand. Nadia is having the door burned through. CTU gets through the door but Jack holds them at bay. Audrey says the word “Bloomfield” and Nadia miraculously grows a set and tells the doctor to take a hike. Jack gives Audrey to Doyle and freely walks back to holding.
• Lisa walks back into the Oval Office and the temperature drops about 50 degrees. Daniels doesn’t waste time in bringing up Mark Bishop. We get the full Powers Boothe as he just destroys Lisa. He tells her she will go back to Bishop and pass false information.
• Audrey is back in medical and James Heller is talking to her. He wants to speak with Jack before taking Audrey out of CTU. Doyle says that Audrey’s clue led them to some sort of plant where she may have been held.
• Heller meets with Jack and blames him for everything. He wants Jack to stay away from his daughter. He tells Jack that he is cursed and everything around him ends up dead. NOT CHLOE MOTHERFUCKER!

Ridiculousness:

• I do think James Heller would have prevented any crazy ass treatment being used on his daughter. He is quite powerful.

• Doyle runs out into traffic and carjacks some poor guy. He calls Bill and CTU gets into motion tracking Jack.
• Jack pulls under some power lines to remove the tracking device from the circuit.
• Morris figures out what Jack did and Bill calls Doyle.
• Daniels and Lennox discuss their issues. Lennox doesn’t like how things went down but is okay with Daniels in the big chair. Daniels asks about Karen but Lennox recommends keeping her onboard.
• Jack calls Cheng and gives him the location since he knows where CTU will be looking.
• After Daniels gets pissed off about Jack, he makes out with Lisa. Wait what?
• Doyle is the Jack Whisper as he is at the power lines calling off all the things Jack is doing.
• Some DOJ bigwig meets with Karen. Reed spilled the blackmail he had on Karen and Bill during his interrogation. Karen explains what happens but someone has to go down for it. It’s either Bill or Karen.
• Jack arrives at a broken down motel.
• Karen brings her problem to Lennox and he tells her that someone is going to take the blame and it has to be Bill to protect the President.
• Jack sets explosives in the building. When he finishes, he leaves a voicemail for Bill. It is literally Jack’s suicide note. He tells Bill to take care of Audrey and that Bill has been a good friend.
• After Chloe hurt his feelings, Morris wants out of communications. After Bill agrees to the transfer, he calls Karen. Karen fires him. I always hated you Karen Hayes.
• Doyle spots Jack’s SUV in his search.
• Bill takes Nadia into the briefing room and tells her that he is stepping down. When she protests, Bill says he was fired. Nadia is now the acting director. The redshirts come for Bill! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Bill is lead out of the building and Nadia gives her speech to CTU.
• Doyle gears up and heads over to the rundown motel. He spots Cheng pulling up and getting out of a limo. Jack wants to see Audrey first so Cheng calls for her. Jack tells Audrey to walk out of the building and keep walking. Doyle is freaking out because he doesn’t have backup. Jack tosses Cheng the circuit at the same moment Doyle starts shooting. Jack is hit before he can trigger the C4. Cheng escapes in a pack of hummers. They use a rocket launcher to take out the CTU chopper. Jack pops up to kill a couple of Chinese before CTU agents apprehend him. Jack yells at Doyle for screwing up his plan. Nadia tells Doyle to arrest Jack. Audrey doesn’t even recognize Jack.

Ridiculousness:

• I love Bill but my issue with Jack calling Curtis a friend goes double for Bill. There is no possible way they worked at CTU together unless it was prior to the first season.
• I know this is just how 24 works but Bill Buchanan is easily the best manager ever at CTU and he gets fired over some political bullshit. It is infuriating.

Key Moments:

• Jack sneaks away from the crime scene so he can call Cheng Zhi in private. Jack offers Cheng himself for Audrey, but Cheng knows Jack won’t break so no deal. He wants technology from the Russian bombs. He puts Audrey on the phone but she doesn’t say much of anything. Cheng gives Jack one hour then hangs up. The military arrives to take control of the bombs.
• Karen runs in on Wayne and Lennox’s conversation to tell them about Jack’s successful takedown. Wayne wants to inform the public immediately.
• While Bill thanks all of CTU, Jack calls Chloe for help. He needs a schematic of the bomb but she needs to use Morris’ system to retrieve it.
• Wayne is back in the Oval Office and gazing at a photo of David Palmer. Daniels walks in and Wayne compliments him then asks for his resignation. Daniels refuses but Wayne has Lennox’s recording. Wayne doesn’t want it now but soon.
• Morris figures out that someone hacked his system and Chloe owns up to it. He eventually gets her to explain why but can’t convince Morris to trust Jack. TRUST JACK MOTHERFUCKER! She walks into Bill’s office to tell him what she did.
• Jack is spelunking through the warehouse. He walks right up to the soldiers and bullshits his way past them. He accesses the bombs and gets the circuit but Doyle shows up. The angry voice showdown ends when a soldier knocks Jack out with the butt of his rifle.
• Bill tells Jack that he can’t let him do it no matter what it will do for Audrey. Jack asks for one call to Wayne Palmer. Jack begs and pleads to Wayne to let him go through with the exchange. He promises that the circuit will be destroyed even if he has to kill himself in the explosion. Jack wins the argument by saying that you were going to sacrifice me this morning so you owe me.
• Doyle angrily frees Jack, but Jack asks him to save Audrey for him. He then tells him that he will destroy the chip and kill Cheng.
• Chloe is angry with Morris as they get back to work.
• Wayne falls unconscious while giving his speech to the public.
• Dr. Welton says that Wayne is too messed up for the office. Daniels takes over and immediately shuts down Jack’s operation. Karen calls Bill and Bill realizes that stopping Jack is downright impossible. Bill sidelines Chloe because he isn’t stupid and calls Doyle. Jack smells everything a mile away and pulls his gun on Doyle the second he hangs up the phone. Jack says he shot his friend earlier in the day, who the fuck are you? He dumps Doyle and drives off. Doyle screams that you can’t go against the White House … does he know who he is talking to?

Ridiculousness:

• I don’t even have the words for the end of the Wayne Palmer plot. I’ve read that 24 was never comfortable with actually killing a sitting President but they don’t seem to have a problem with fucking them severely over and over again.
• Explain to me how the hell Jack and Curtis were friends? Curtis started working for CTU before season 4. Jack was fired nearly a year before season 4 began. He was fired once Driscoll started running CTU. Even if she brought Curtis with her, he and Jack could only have worked together for weeks. Then Jack fakes his death, pops up and works with Curtis for 1 day, gets kidnapped by the Chinese, and works with Curtis for a few hours before killing him. The only way I accept the idea of them as friends is if we get a 24 prequel where Jack and Curtis did wetwork together back in the day.

Key Moments:

• The roundtable of pain watches a video screen tracking the planes getting closer to nuking some unnamed country. Wayne won’t back down and won’t explain his actions. The Ambassador calls Wayne and tells him that they have arrested a General that was working with Fayed. Wayne gets pissed and it’s awesome. He rips the Ambassador apart but does abort the bombing. When the Ambassador hangs up, Wayne tells everyone that it was a bluff. The missile was non-nuclear.
• We join Jack in mid-beating of Fayed. Fayed talks shit that Jack is enjoying himself like he did when he killed his brother. Jack tells Doyle that Fayed won’t break. Bill calls to tell Jack about the General being arrested. Doyle takes a shot at Fayed but to no avail. There is dissention between Jack and Doyle when Jack says they should take Fayed back to CTU.
• During Fayed’s transport, Jack and Doyle are distracted by their continuing argument. With their attention somewhere else, an armored truck clips their van. A huge shootout takes place in the middle of the street ending with both Doyle and Jack down. The thugs grab Fayed and drive off with him. A huge convoy of CTU vehicles pulls up and pick up the not dead Doyle and Jack. There are cameras in the armored truck and CTU is watching Fayed with the undercover CTU agents. Jack says for the plan to work, the arrested General needs to call Fayed.
• Bill calls Wayne with this idea and Wayne just absolutely dogs the Ambassador to get him to do it. He even reaches down to his inner-Jack and asks the Ambassador if he has threatened the General’s family yet.
• Fayed tells the undercover agents to pull over into a garage and wait. The phone rings and it is the General. He has been beaten and there are guns on his kids, so he encourages Fayed to get back to the bombs and use them.
• Once Wayne gets word that the plan worked, he sends the Ambassador out of the room and asks Lennox to lock the door. He then keels over.
• Nadia tells Bill that there may have been a duress code passed by the General. Jack tries to call their man on the inside but they lose the signal. Jack and Doyle catch up to the truck in a tunnel. All of their agents are dead or wounded. Doyle stays with them while Jack heads deeper into the tunnel. He finds Fayed after he has killed a truck driver and hopped into the driver seat. Jack hitches a ride underneath the truck. His call to CTU can’t be heard because of all the noise.
• Dr. Welton is working on Wayne and he refuses to go back to medical until the crisis is done.
• Fayed pulls into the warehouse and tells his men that they are taking out downtown LA. Jack gets to work. He trips and snaps the first guard’s neck. He kills the rest of the thugs then takes on Fayed hand to hand. This is probably the best fistfight ever on 24. Fayed kicks the shit out of Jack but Jack finishes him off by wrapping a chain around his arms and neck then hanging him. Before Fayed dies, Jack tells him to, “say hello to your brother for me”. There is an unbelievable moment where Doyle looks at the destruction and just says “damn Jack”. Of course just as they are walking away, Doyle’s phone rings and says Jack has a call. The call is from Audrey who is being held by Cheng Zhi.

Ridiculousness:

• I like the idea that Fayed knows how to drive a big rig.
• In an already horrid season, the return of Audrey and Cheng completely train wrecks the day.

Key Moments:

• Wayne refuses to meet the cabinet in a wheelchair. He also tells Dr. Welton that he wants a shot of adrenaline. He is told that this is very dangerous.
• Jack and Bill discuss Gredenko’s demands. Jack believes that the Presidential games going on will make any immunity deal non-binding.
• Wayne meets the cabinet and the 25^th amendment discussion begins. Dr. Welton states that Wayne is in good shape and should make a full recovery. Wayne then says that the doctor gave his okay and the people voted him into office. Daniels responds that he wants to blow shit up and Wayne won’t let him. Lennox calls for a break before they come back for the vote.
• We get more games between Milo, Nadia, and Doyle. Doyle tells Nadia that he believes Milo screwed up and allowed Gredenko into their systems. He wants Nadia to confirm this.
• The cabinet reconvenes. The vote is an even split and the Attorney General states that the President stays in office on an even split. Daniels responds that Karen’s vote was invalid due to her earlier resignation. Lots of arguing ends when the Attorney General says that this will have to go before the Supreme Court.
• Nadia accesses Milo’s system and proves that he screwed up. She angrily brings the evidence to Doyle but he covers it up. Doyle tells her that he just wants to catch terrorists.
• Gredenko confirms his deal and Jack gives him the standard death threat if he plays any games. Gredenko calls Fayed and they agree to meet in 10 minutes at the pier. Doyle is 30 minutes out so Jack’s team will have to go it alone.
• Karen meets with Wayne and Sandra. They talk tactics to oppose Daniels.
• Daniels and Lisa discuss how to handle Karen. When Lisa tells him that his actions prove that he reaffirmed Karen into the office, he goes off on the fate of the nation if Wayne stays in office. Lisa offers an illegal solution to the problem and Daniels agrees.
• Fayed makes a stop at a warehouse to drop off the bombs before meeting with Gredenko.
• Lennox meets with Daniels alone. He awesomely plays a recording of the conversation that Daniels just had with Lisa. Lennox tells Daniels to back down and let Wayne take back the office.
• While Karen and Wayne talk Jack’s operation, Sandra walks in to tell him that Daniels has backed down. Wayne is so messed up he is practically a bobble head.
• CTU injects a tracking isotope into Gredenko’s arm. Jack says they can’t wait for Doyle and sends Gredenko out onto the pier. Gredenko finds a ringing cell phone and reads a test message with a location. Jack heads out to track him on foot. Gredenko meets with Fayed and shows him the wire he is wearing. He unplugs it and tells Fayed that he can get them both out alive. Jack enters the building looking for Gredenko and only finds his severed arm. CTU can’t track him anymore, well except for his fucking blood trail!
• Jack is acting the bloodhound and gets into a shootout with Fayed’s men. Fayed and Gredenko run into a bar where Gredenko yells out that Fayed is the terrorist and the bar jumps Fayed. Okay that was awesome. Jack runs into the bar and fires a round into the air to clear the fight. Fayed tells a drunk that he hopes his friend dies so Jack kicks him in the face.
• Wayne demands more adrenaline from Dr. Welton. Bill calls him and tells him that CTU does not have the bombs.
• Gredenko is bleeding to death under the pier.
• Karen and Lennox share a moment of understanding between rivals, when they get word that Wayne is going through with the nuclear strike. No one understands what Wayne is doing.

Ridiculousness:

• What the hell was Gredenko’s plan? You cannot survive the shock and blood from severing your arm from the shoulder without immediate medical attention. Then stumbling under the pier until you pass out from blood loss … I just don’t understand.

• Brady Hauser (Scott Michael Campbell): The mentally challenged younger brother.

Key Moments:

• Gredenko can’t get in touch with Victor and Fayed is pissed off that the bomb did not detonate in San Francisco. Gredenko says they should move on and use the last 2 bombs. Fayed pulls his gun and threatens Gredenko but they eventually agree.
• Gredenko calls Mark Hauser and needs him to access some files for him. He will be there in 40 minutes. Mark turns to his brother Brady to gain access to the files.
• Chloe finds the Gredenko/Hauser connection and Jack is given the address.
• A CTU agent finds evidence that exonerates Nadia at the drone pilot site. Instead of processing it, he hands it to Doyle.
• Karen convinces Sandra to wake up Wayne.
• Daniels is in the middle of telling everyone how they are going to blow up the world when he is told that Wayne is being revived.
• Jack and friends are outside the Hauser house. They move in and shoot Mark in the leg when he grabs a shotgun. Brady freaks out but Jack calms him down. Brady tells Jack that he was accessing the files of a nuclear power plant for Mark. Jack moves on to Mark and tells him he will protect Brady if Mark gives up Gredenko.
• Jack allows Mark to talk to Brady and he tells his brother to trust Jack. Mark calls Gredenko and tells him that he will leave the data with Brady. Gredenko agrees and gives a location for the exchange.
• Milo finds out about the evidence that would clear Nadia and confronts Doyle. Bill breaks it up and Morris runs over to say that Doyle gave it to him for confirmation. Nadia is cleared and Milo apologizes but Doyle tells him to forget about it.
• Bill frees Nadia and sits down for a chat. He tells her that she can quit and sue or she can stay and help them because he needs her. Nadia agrees to stay.
• The drugs Dr. Welton gave Wayne to wake him up have caused him to go into some sort of crisis.
• Jack gives Brady a comm. unit and sends him off to the exchange. Gredenko pulls up and gets out of the SUV. Brady gives him the memory stick. For such a dumbass plot, this was a great scene. The sniper can’t get a clear shot of Gredenko, so Jack tells Brady to get on the ground. Brady doesn’t understand but eventually drops to the ground right before Gredenko’s man kills him. The sniper tranqs Gredenko and his guard. Jack runs up and kills the third man in the SUV.
• Jack begins his questioning of Gredenko. The later seasons of 24 have some of my favorite small moments; it is the light of recognition when the villain knows exactly who Jack Bauer is and want no part of his tactics. Gredenko tells Jack that Fayed has the bombs and is waiting for his call. He wants amnesty and not to be returned to Russia. Jack just stares at him.
• The roundtable of blowing up shit is listening to Daniels rail on again about blowing up half the world. A general tells him that the planes with his bombs have been diverted. The order came from Wayne Palmer. Wayne calls the roundtable and tells Daniels that he has called off the bombing and is resuming the office. Daniels hangs up and tells everyone that he doesn’t think Wayne is fit for duty.

Ridiculousness:

• How deep into the bottom of the barrel are we now that Jack is putting the mentally handicapped undercover?
• Was the cabinet voting out David Palmer so fantastic that we needed to do it again?

Key Moments:

• Doyle sidelines Jack because we need to prove that Doyle is a dick as much as possible.
• Bill updates Daniels on nuke drones.
• Gredenko tells Victor to get the first drone in the air. He tells Fayed that they need to take the other 2 nukes out of the desert. Hooray for bad CGI of a drone launch.
• Morris finds the drone on satellite, but in the time it takes to talk with the military they lose the drone. Everyone freaks out.
• Victor calls Gredenko and tells him that he has accessed CTU and hid the drone.
• Lennox updates Daniels on the drone. Instead of dealing with it, Daniels wants to assemble the Joint Chiefs so he can start bombing motherfuckers. And by bombing he means nukes. Lennox squirms.
• Jack and Doyle arrive back at CTU and everyone is trying to identify targets.
• Marilyn is still hanging out at CTU and tries to kiss and hug Jack. He doesn’t reciprocate and tells her he needs to speak with Audrey. She tells him that Audrey died in China. Jack walks straight to Chloe and hangs up her phone. She apologizes but they thought he was going to be killed by Fayed. Jack wants Audrey’s file now.
• Karen is back at the bunker and has a little chat with Lennox. Daniels and Lisa talk about how they can exclude Karen from their plans to bomb the world to smithereens.
• Daniels convenes the round table of blowing shit up. Ethan says that Fayed is nationless but Daniels will not be denied and says they are blowing up the unnamed country. Karen argues against it but Daniels just dismisses everyone.
• Chloe tells Bill that CTU has a leak that is preventing them from tracking the drone. Doyle points to Nadia first. Milo argues over the racism but in that time Chloe has checked her system and proven that it is the source of the leak. Doyle starts choking Nadia but Bill calls him off.
• Gredenko and Victor talk and say that the drone will detonate in San Francisco in 20 minutes.
• Wayne is still alive and Karen is talking to Dr. Welton. Wayne is in an induced coma but Karen wants him to wake him up. Dr. Welton says this will be dangerous and would need Sandra’s okay.
• Morris traces the tap to a location blocks away from CTU.
• Doyle is interrogating Nadia. He chokes her for a bit but she tells him that he enjoys hurting people. Milo calls him off to say that they have an address. Nadia is sad that Milo doesn’t believe her. Boo hoo terrorist.
• Jack is in medical getting taped up. And by taped up I mean his entire torse is wrapped in bandages. All the agents mounting up interrupt his reading of Audrey’s file. He finds out about the location of the drone pilot. He tells Bill he is finishing this then finding the people who killed Audrey.
• Jack and Doyle prep their assault and head in. They kill their way to Victor. Jack takes him out but doesn’t kill him. Jack gets on the controls and tells Bill that the target is San Francisco. Jack has 30 seconds to stop it from crossing the perimeter and detonating. Jack plays video games and beats the level. The drone lands and catches on fire.
• The San Francisco response team finds readings of radioactive material.
• Bill updates Daniels that they stopped the drone from detonating. Since there was a leak, Daniels still views this as a successful attack and is going to respond. No argument can stop him.

Ridiculousness:

• Jack landing the drone was just horrific animation.

• Mike Doyle (Rick Schroder): Who would have thought that Silver Spoons wouldn’t be the most ridiculous casting choice for a CTU field agent. The only thing you are supposed to know about him is that he is a dick.

Key Moments:

• For some reason, Logan has been brought in to CTU. He is put into a holding cell.
• Bill introduces Mike Doyle to CTU. They talk about a plan to assault the Russian consulate and grab Markov. Jack is a secondary objective.
• Jack is beaten and tossed down a set of stairs. When the man calls Markov for the okay to kill Jack, Jack steals the earlier dead guard’s belt. He uses it to yank the gun out of the guard’s hands. Then he crawls to the gun and kills him with his own gun. Markov watches this on camera and sets off the alarm. Jack is great at hide and seek. Markov shuts down communications when Jack was in mid-conversation with Morris. Jack responds by cutting power to the entire building. Bill tells Doyle that Jack needs to be recovered.
• Bill tells Logan that his briefing will have to wait because of Jack’s situation. Logan begs to help. He says Martha has a close relationship with Suvarov’s wife.
• Doyle treats all the techs like shit so Milo steps up to tell him to back off.
• Lennox tells Daniels that he will cover for him but wants Reed and Carson punished. Daniels then wants Lennox to lie to the Ambassador about Assad’s actions. Lennox makes Daniels explain why and crazy Daniels wants the Ambassador to know that America is going to blame their country and bomb the shit out of them.
• Fayed meets with Gredenko in the middle of the desert and they start transplanting the nukes to the drones.
• Bill updates Daniels on Logan’s plan and their assault plan.
• Civilian Pierce is bringing some groceries into some bungalow. Martha is waiting for him inside and they seem all lovey dovey. Logan calls and Pierce picks up. They argue and Martha wants nothing to do with him. Logan mentions the Suvarovs and Martha picks up the phone. I thought I was done with her bullshit. Logan explains what he needs from her but she just tosses the phone down. Logan asks Pierce to get her ready to meet him when he arrives.
• Jack is sneaking around the basement and finds 2 Russians getting frisky and takes them hostage. He tells the guy to go find him a SAT phone, while he holds the girl hostage.
• Logan lands and Pierce greets him but does not shake his hand. Martha hides in the bedroom, so Logan explains the situation to Pierce. Martha walks out in mid-speech and Logan tells her what is going on.
• Daniels and Lennox meet with the Ambassador of the unnamed country. Daniels threatens the hell out of him. USA USA USA!
• Anya Suvarov is making a speech, so everyone is waiting around. So to break the tension, Martha stabs Charles in the shoulder.
• Bill asks Pierce if Martha can still make the call. She takes the call from Anya and gets straight to the point.
• Doyle and his team are ready outside of the consulate.
• Suvarov is on the phone with Markov and tells him to surrender to the Americans. Markov hangs up on his President. Suvarov gives Bill the authorization to attack the consulate.
• Jack gets his SAT phone but before he can use it, Russians bursts through the door. Jack kills a couple but he is pinned down.
• Bill gives the okay to Doyle to begin the assault. They save Jack when he runs out of bullets. Markov calls Gredenko and tells him that the Americans are coming in. He fires on the CTU agents and they are forced to kill him. Doyle finds Jack and gets him in contact with Bill.
• Fayed tells Gredenko to launch the drone.
• Bill tells CTU to get satellite coverage of the desert.
• Logan crashes in the ambulance.

Ridiculousness:

• Milo immediately gets into an argument with Doyle. Milo was brought back on to 24 to just argue with everyone. That’s all he does during Day 6.
• This Daniels plotline is so aggravating. He is obsessed with bombing the shit out of the world. It doesn’t even make logical sense.
• They end the hour with Logan crashing and he will not be brought up again this season.

• Ethan Kanin (Bob Gunton): Holy shit! I didn’t know Ethan was introduced back in season 6. He is another great character actor who is one of the guys in the cabinet.
• Dr. Welton (Jim Holmes): The doctor who works on Wayne throughout the day.
• Lisa Miller (Kari Matchett): Daniels’ aide and a little bit more.
• Anatoly Markov (John Noble): It’s another talented actor popping in for a quick role. Markov is much closer to Denethor than Dr. Bishop for Noble.

Returning Characters:

• Yuri Suvarov (5pm – 6pm episode of season 5)

Key Moments:

• Wayne is wheeled into the medical center of the bunker. Hopefully they are better at their jobs than CTU.
• Jack has dressed up as a Secret Service agent and gets into the car with Logan. As Logan chatters away, Bill calls Jack with the assassination attempt on Wayne Palmer. Bill tells Jack that Assad is the suspect while also being dead.
• Dr. Welton reports to the cabinet the seriousness of Wayne’s condition. Ethan pushes for Daniels to take over the Presidency. After the meeting, Ethan asks Reed about Lennox. When Reed can’t adequately cover the absence, Ethan sends security looking for him. Reed runs back to the boiler room and still argues that Lennox shouldn’t be killed. He talks to Lennox directly and gets him to agree to cover it up. Lennox leaves the room and turns Reed and Carson in to the first Secret Service he spots.
• Lisa Miller greets Daniels’ plane lands and him. He talks to Bill about Logan.
• Logan and Jack reach the Russian consulate and split up. Logan meets with Markov alone. Logan brings up the name Gredenko immediately. Markov denies so Logan moves to blackmail and says that he will tell Suvarov about Markov’s involvement in season 5’s shenanigans. Markov continues to deny so Logan apologizes for his tactics and leaves. Logan tells Jack that Markov knows. Markov calls Gredenko to tell him what the Americans know. Jack calls Chloe and tells her to cut the power to the Russian consulate. Logan says the obvious when he tells Jack that his problems started when he violated the Chinese consulate!
• While hanging out at the air force base, Bill calls Karen to tell her about the assassination attempt. She says she has to go back to the bunker.
• When Daniels reaches the bunker, Ethan greets him and tells him about Lennox’s allegations.
• Lennox is being interrogated and they are not being kind to him. Daniels walks into the room and talks to Lennox privately. We get the first instance of Daniels' crazy rage. He wants to and will blame Assad for the assassination attempt. Lennox recognizes the politics going on and confronts Daniels. Daniels tells him to either go along with Daniels or try to clear Assad’s name.
• Jack walks back to the consulate. Chloe gives him a 60 second window and he gives her the go ahead. He heads in and gets into Markov’s office. When the power comes back on, Markov presses his panic button. Jack knocks him out and calls out that he is holding the consul hostage. He calls Bill with his insane situation.
• Daniels sits at the Presidential desk. Bill calls him with Jack’s predicament. President Suvarov is already calling Daniels. Daniels says he is speaking for Wayne. After Suvarov makes his diplomatic threats, Daniels responds that they believe Markov has knowledge of Gredenko.
• Jack is beating on Markov. Markov says he hasn’t spoken to Gredenko since he entered the United States. Jack tells him that he never said Gredenko was in the United States. Jack brings out the cigar cutter. He goes through with his threat and chops off one of Markov’s fingers. Jack switches to the gun and Markov says Gredenko is in the desert launching drones. They will launch in 2 hours but before Jack can call it in, the Russians blow through the door and take Jack prisoner.
• Morris access Russian data and finds out that Jack was captured. Bill tells Nadia to get a rescue plan in order.
• While being held in a room, Jack tells his guard what Markov is involved in. The guy believes him and Jack asks him to call CTU with the information. He leaves the room to make the call but another Russian shoots him before he is connected to Bill.

Ridiculousness:

• If the Russian guard was calling from his cell phone, why did he feel the need to leave the room and expose himself to the rest of the consulate?

Key Moments:

• The Ambassador is brought back into the bunker to meet with Wayne and Assad. Wayne explains his plan and when the Ambassador balks, Wayne switches to telling him that all of his advisors want him to bomb the shit out of his unnamed country.
• Jack calls Bill with the new information he got from his father. He finds out that Logan is under house arrest, which Jack gives a great pause as he processes this. Jack sends Marilyn and Josh back to CTU.
• Reed walks Carson through security into the bunker. He tells him that Lennox tried to expose them. They get to the boiler room and Lennox is tied to a pipe with his mouth taped. Reed argues against killing Lennox. He claims they are not cold-blooded killers … wait what?
• Jack meets grizzly bearded Charles Logan at his retreat. Logan claims he wants nothing in return for his help. He tells Jack that they need to speak with the Russian consulate, Markov. He is Gredenko’s contact. Logan wants to speak with Markov personally since he has leverage on him.
• Jack calls Wayne with this plan and Wayne is pissed to even deal with Logan. Jack tells him there is no other lead. Wayne speaks with Charles and their conversation is phenomenal. They are holding 2 different dialogues; Logan is telling Wayne he can be useful while Wayne is saying how much he hates Logan. Wayne gives the go ahead.
• Gredenko receives the delivery of a drone.
• Logan breaks out his Presidential wear. He and Jack talk about Markov.
• Carson has finished the wacky bomb using liquid the smuggled in through markers. He hands the bomb to Reed.
• Reed walks through the bunker paranoid as hell. He gets to the podium and places the bomb underneath it. Wayne and Assad walk into the room soon after. Wayne introduces Assad to Reed then talks to Reed about Lennox’s absence.
• Lennox tries to kick open a pipe valve to try to signal his whereabouts but Carson shuts him down.
• Reed leaves the media room and watches through a window. When Wayne and Assad move towards the podium, he sets the bomb. Assad notices a liquid leaking underneath the podium and calls bomb before it goes off. Assad dies in the explosion but a Secret Service agent has time to cover Wayne.

Ridiculousness:

• What a stupid wasteful death for Assad. With all the shit this show has done to their universe, why couldn’t they have explored a world where there is peace with radical Muslims. Oh wait, we need them as villains!

Key Moments:

• Milo and Marilyn run and hide behind a couple of dumpsters. Phillip’s men arrive and one of them stops to call and update Phillip. He tells him that Jack is dead but they don’t have Marilyn. When he hangs up, he realizes where Milo and Marilyn are hiding. Milo catches on and tells Marilyn to run when he starts firing. He hops up and starts shooting and Marilyn screams and hides. Always remember that 24 hates women. Milo is shot in the shoulder but before they can advance on them, Jack arrives and kills 2 of the men and uses his loud voice to stop the 3^rd man holding Marilyn hostage. He checks Milo’s wound then yokes Marilyn against the wall. She tells him that it was his father. She gives him the real address for the Gredenko house and Jack passes it on to Bill but tells him that he has something personal to handle.
• After more Morris and Chloe arguing, we find out that Morris is a recovering alcoholic. He hears about Milo’s heroism and reacts poorly.
• Jack’s plan is to have Phillip’s man call him and give Marilyn the phone. She forces Phillip to tell her where he is holding Josh because she wants to see him. Josh listens in and realizes that his grandfather is not a good man and tries to escape. No such luck.
• Lennox delivers the itinerary to Reed. The plan is to kill Wayne and implicate Assad.
• Wayne calls Lennox and tells him he wants his help on Assad’s speech. Lennox is taken aback that Wayne still wants to work with him.
• Morris is at the package store struggling with his desire to have a drink. He buys some whiskey and takes it into the alley to have a drink. He immediately throws it up.
• Jack and crew arrive at the parking garage of the hotel. He gives Marilyn a bulletproof vest to wear.
• Lennox finishes with Wayne and heads back to Reed. Reed needs him to clear Carson through security. Lennox tells him that he is on it but tries to contact Secret Service instead. Reed knocks him out before he can complete the call.
• Chloe smells the alcohol on Morris’ breath but he begs her not to report him. He threw it up!
• CTU assaults the Gredenko house and they find nothing.
• Jack leads everyone into Phillip’s room but it is empty. Phillip calls the hotel phone and is holding Josh at gunpoint at the adjacent building. Jack offers him an immunity deal but when that doesn’t work offers himself for Josh. Phillip agrees. Jack knocks out the thug and takes Marilyn to the exchange.
• Milo also smelt the alcohol but Chloe says she is handling it.
• Jack leaves Marilyn in the stairwell with a gun and heads out to meet his father. He walks across the roof and enters another room and shows that he is unarmed. Phillip walks out of the shadows and sends Josh towards Jack and on to his mother. Phillip explains to Jack that Gredenko found out about the family’s involvement in David Palmer’s assassination. He used that as leverage to gain access to the bombs. He uses the old standby of being a “patriot”. Jack sees right through that and Phillip compliments him on his intelligence but insults him for being a civil servant. Phillip puts Jack in the execution position. Jack explains himself to his father; he never wanted to turn his back on his family, he just wanted to go his own way. When he finishes his speech, the bullet never comes and he turns around to find Phillip gone. He exits to the roof and finds Phillip’s phone. There is number on it and Jack calls and look at that Charles Logan picks up. He tells Jack to come and see him.

Key Moments:

• The chopper carrying Fayed lands at the location of the rest of the nukes.
• A beat to shit and depressed Morris walks back into CTU and heads to medical. Jack soon follows and we get the long shot of Jack walking through with everyone stopping and staring. Bill tells Jack about Gredenko and asks him to question Phillip. Jack takes a moment to stop at Chloe’s desk.
• Phillip is in the morgue deleting information from Graem’s phone. Jack arrives to see Phillip standing over his son’s body. Phillip gives Jack shit about how Jack’s torture killed his son. Jack asks him about Gredenko and after stonewalling him Phillip says he will contact some of the company executives to see if they know anything.
• Chloe tries to make Morris feel better but he can’t get over the fact that he armed Fayed.
• Phillip calls Liddy and tells him to get a team together to find and kill Gredenko.
• Jack and Bill meet to discuss their lack of leads and the death of Graem. Jack admits to everything he did but yells at Bill because he told him he couldn’t handle the job anymore. He doesn’t know how to deal with the fact that he killed his brother. Bill being Bill offers to cover it up but Jack wants to accept the consequences.
• Assad and Wayne are working on the speech Assad will give to the public. A call from Daniels comes in and Assad listens in as Wayne stands his ground against Dainels’ attempt to get Lennox’s plan through. Afterwards, Assad warns Wayne to keep an eye out for the people around him.
• Of course, Lennox is walking down some dark hallway of the bunker to meet with Reed in some sort of boiler room. Lennox wants Reed to explain what he is proposing but Reed won’t give any names and says Daniels is not involved. Reed asks for Wayne’s itinerary for Assad’s speech, which Lennox agrees to get.
• Jack meets with Marilyn who is still not too broken up with her husband’s death. She offers to help and visibly twitches when Jack mentions Russians. Phillip sees Jack take Marilyn somewhere more private. She tells Jack about tailing Graem a few months ago and saw him meet some Russians. She doesn’t remember the address but tells Jack she would recognize it if they retraced her route.
• Phillip talks with Marilyn and she tells him everything she told Jack. She asks him to watch Josh when she leaves with Jack.
• Bill sends a tact team and Milo with Jack. Why Milo? Well, someone needs to be put in danger but not killed.
• Phillip tells Marilyn that he wants to take Josh out of CTU and will bring him back to his place.
• After Jack and crew leaves CTU, Phillip calls Liddy and tells him to set-up a house in the area Jack is headed to.
• While on the road, Marilyn tries to get Jack to open up. We get some back-story on Jack's fallout with his family; basically something happened and Jack joined the military instead of entering the family business. Phillip calls Marilyn with threats. He wants her to take Jack to a specific address or Josh dies. After the call, Phillip tells Josh that they’ll hang out at a hotel until the streets are clear from the bombing.
• Victor is loading targets for the nukes while Gredenko explains that they are using the Muslims as scapegoats.
• Marilyn leads Jack to the address Phillip gave her. They arrive and Jack and his team prep quickly and head out. Marilyn stays behind with Milo. They burst into the house and find nothing … well Jack spots a bomb. He dives out of the window and the house blows up. Milo gets Marilyn into the tactical van and drives off. They are pursued and have their tires shot out. They crash into a wall and Milo grabs a gun and uses a grenade to blow the van to cover their escape.
• Jack wakes up to see wreckage everything.

Ridiculousness:

• I don’t care what year it is; I will always be excited to see Russians angry with America and still trying to win the Cold War. This should never get old.

Key Moments:

• Jack is the chopper heading towards the spot where Morris was kidnapped. Nadia informs Bill that Graem is dead and Bill relays that to Jack. Milo tells Bill that Chloe is too emotional so Bill sidelines her.
• Morris hilariously tells McCarthy that they know exactly who he is and what he has done today. McCarthy hears Jack’s chopper and tells Rita to drive like a maniac. They eventually pull underneath an underpass blocking them from Jack’s vision. McCarthy steals another vehicle while Morris pleads with Rita. Jack has the chopper land on top of a couple of semis, in an awesome shot, and runs towards the underpass. McCarthy and friends drive off in the stolen truck seconds before Jack reaches them. Milo says they have no way to track them without knowing what they stole. Fayed calls McCarthy with an address and after McCarthy plugs it into the GPS, Rita kills him. Morris thinks he is saved but Rita decides that she wants to get into the terrorist dealing business.
• Wayne talks with Lennox after the cabinet meeting to try to explain to him why he keeps denying his plan but wants him to stay on board. Lennox leaves the meeting and immediately flips out in front of Reed. He tells him that he is going to resign. Reed leaves the office and calls Carson and they discuss their shady plans.
• Marilyn and Josh arrive at CTU and Bill tells her that Graem has died. She is not too bothered with the news.
• Jack calls CTU after finding McCarthy’s dead body. He sends McCarthy’s phone data to Milo.
• Rita delivers Morris to Fayed. Fayed nails Morris and tells Rita that she will stick around until Morris completes his task. Morris is scared shitless but says he won’t do it. The beating commences and Rita has to stand there and watch.
• Milo can’t crack McCarthy’s phone, so Chloe volunteers her help. They talk tech to sound smart and she finds an address. Jack is on his way.
• Assad is brought into the Presidential bunker. Wayne and Assad have a fantastic argument about what should be told to the public.
• Jack and Turner discuss how they should approach the apartment complex. Jack has Chloe trigger a fire alarm to get people out of the building.
• In mid-torture of Morris, the fire alarm goes off and Fayed realizes that CTU has arrived. He tells his people to stay and turns back to Morris. He takes an automatic drill to Morris’s shoulder and shoots Rita in the head when she asks to leave. Morris finally cracks.
• Reed meets with Lennox and starts feeling him out on his and Carson’s shady plans. Lennox tells him that he is not in favor of removing Wayne from office. Reed says they are not talking a legal removal; it is more about a sudden removal by force. Lennox can understand assassination talk.
• After the fire alarm empties the building, Jack says Fayed is on the 6^th floor.
• Morris is still working as Fayed starts worrying about CTU reaching them.
• Jack and CTU move through the building.
• Morris finishes and Fayed brings a nuke into the room. He wants Morris to prove his work and the bomb is armed. Fayed tells his man to kill Morris, but CTU bursts through the door at that moment. A whole bunch of video game violence takes place with Jack taking people out with a shotgun. They don’t grab Fayed but they do find the bomb. Jack opens the suitcase and says, “CTU, this is Bauer, we have a problem.”
• Chloe talks Jack through the bomb. Turner tells Jack that Fayed escaped through a hole in the closet and a helicopter took off in the area. Jack’s hands are shaking as he starts playing around with switches. He turns off the triggering mechanism with seconds to spare. Morris tells Jack that Fayed can trigger the rest of the bombs with what he built. Jack’s disgust at Morris is fantastic.
• After hearing about Fayed having a trigger for the bombs, Lennox has a change of heart and is now willing to discuss Reed’s plan.

Ridiculousness:

• No one in their right mind would approach someone about Presidential assassination without knowing that that person was 100% in. Because once you bring it up, they either say yes or you have to kill them. This plot is stupid.
• If CTU knows a helicopter took off near the apartment Fayed was in, shouldn’t they have been tracking it?

• Noah Daniels (Powers Boothe): First James Cromwell now Powers Boothe. This is just phenomenal casting and you just can’t find someone better than Powers when you want powerful but shady.

Key Moments:

• Wayne and Lennox discuss Karen’s resignation. Lennox acts like an asshole and claims she didn’t want to stand in the way of his recommendations anymore. Wayne agrees to take his recommendations to the cabinet and Lennox walks out in a celebratory mood.
• Karen and Bill talk and she tells him about her resignation. After the conversation, she leaves the bunker.
• Graem tells his men to handle his father and brother. Phillip tells Jack that the family business should have went to him not Graem. He apologizes for their predicament. The van pulls up to a construction site and they are walked up to a couple of open graves. Phillip doesn’t kneel down and starts walking towards his executioner. Jack uses the hesitation to grab the other guy’s gun and shoot one of the thugs. Before Jack can question the surviving thug, Phillip shoots him. Jack calls Bill and tells him that Graem will lead them to McCarthy.
• McCarthy calls Fayed and tells him that he will have an engineer for him in an hour.
• CTU listens in on that conversation and Morris works on the corrupt image of the engineer.
• Jack and Phillip arrive at Graem’s house and meet up with Turner and his team.
• In mid-argument with Marilyn, CTU bursts through the windows and Jack rushes in for a standoff with Graem. Graem puts his gun down and is cuffed in front of his wife and son. Jack explains his actions to Marilyn but she is not surprised that her husband is bent. She awesomely yells at Jack that she doesn’t want him to protect Josh since he sucks at protecting people. He sends Marilyn and Josh back to CTU. They walk past Phillip and he doesn’t deny that Graem is involved with the nukes.
• Jack begins Graem’s interrogation. He says he panicked but continues to deny even when Jack uses the loud voice. The monitoring proves Graem is lying so Jack calls for the high-end torture. Phillip sees the CTU agent grab the scary briefcase.
• Milo tells Chloe that Morris’ brother was exposed to radiation. She tells Morris and he reacts poorly and gets up to leave. Milo and Chloe convince him to finish the image first.
• Jack explains to Graem what is going to happen. He is going to be injected with some magic substance that will only inflict pain. Graem continues to deny. Jack calls for a low dosage and walks away white as a sheet as Graem starts shaking and screaming. Jack hugs him and begs him to answer. Graem continues to deny so Jack keeps upping the dosage. After Jack reaches the highest level before killing him, Graem starts talking but it is about his involvement in the killing of David Palmer, Tony Almeida, Michelle Dessler, and everything else last season. He tops it off by saying he is the same as Jack. Jack flips out and kicks Graem’s chair over and pulls his gun out. He screams for another injection and starts screaming that he is going to kill Graem. Phillip walks into his field of vision and Jack comes to his senses and calls everything off.
• Jack and Phillip have a heart to heart over what is happening. Phillip apologizes to Jack for his family. Jack asks his father to go to CTU when Graem is transported. He needs to go back to tracking the bombs.
• Morris has finished his program and put it on autopilot. He leaves CTU to go see his brother.
• Lennox is talking with Vice President Daniels about the plan they believe Wayne is about to sign off on. The cabinet meets to talk about Lennox’s plan. Wayne flips it and continues to feel that the plan goes against the Constitution. He shuts everyone down.
• CTU watches the image clear up and hey look it’s Morris. Bill and Jack call Morris and tell him to get back to CTU. Before Morris can do anything, McCarthy cuts him off and kidnaps Morris. He drives off and calls Fayed and tells him he will deliver his engineer in 15 minutes.
• Phillip asks the CTU agent for a minute alone with his son. We get the big revelation that Phillip was in on the whole thing. Graem is proud of himself for standing up to his big bad brother. Phillip doesn’t think he will hold up at CTU and decides the better option is to kill his son.

Ridiculousness:

• You read that right; Phillip Bauer killed his own son to protect his company that has already been implicated in the day’s events. God this season is stupid.
